2010 Cheshire Junior Angling Championships

The CADG group is hosting a junior team match (for teams of 6 anglers aged Under 16) at Border Fishery, Crewe , on Wednesday 4th August. The event is being sponsored by the Environment Agency, and we have trophies and tackle prizes for the winning teams and individuals.

This event will be the inaugral Cheshire county team match, that hopefully will be contested for many years to come, as angling aligns it’s competition structure to a county-based system, as seen in other popular sports.

Junior Fly Fishing Teaching Day

Dear All

PA will be holding a junior fly fishing day in conjunction with the Prince Albert Fly Fishing Team at Marton Heath on Saturday 29th May 2010 from 9am to 1pm. There are only 24 places available so if you are interested, please get in touch and book a place.

The Session will cover the following:
- Fly Casting Tuition
- Entomology
- Fly Tying
- Catch & Release Fishing

*I must reiterate that we only have 24 places available so booking a place is prerequisite.

PAAS Junior Day at Cound Fishery

Prince Albert will be holding a Junior day at Cound fishery on Saturday 13th March 2010, fishing starts at 10am. Fishing will be for Rainbow trout by any method. You will be able to take a rainbow trout but all brown trout are to be returned as they will be out of season.

Karl the even organiser can provide a dozen fly outfits with safety glasses, nets, flies etc but if the students elect to use other methods they will need to bring their own kit. Mums and Dads are welcome but it is only the Juniors who will be allowed to fish. Remember it is always a good idea to bring warm waterproof clothing and wellies as well as a packed lunch.

The day will conclude at 3.30pm.

Suggested plans for the future

Over the course of the next five years, the junior section will be establishing links with schools, coaches, and the local authorities, with a view to facilitating the planning of coaching sessions for junior members on all aspects of the sport supplied by the club. There should be the opportunity to learn, from the very basics of the sport, to the specialising into match, carp and game fishing.

We are looking to locate a local building for the initial training purposes and to use club waters to put into practice all the good habits and skills learn’t in those sessions.

Several members of the committee have already offered to help develop a junior match team. Regular matches with local clubs will be planned as soon as the response to the sessions confirms that this should be a development target.

As well as continuing with the already well established open match for juniors, there should be matches for our junior members on various club waters and also, perhaphs, a parents/child pairs match, plus organised trips to some of our distant club waters and also some day ticket waters.

What I really need, is for all the junior members to write to me, commenting on the above plans and suggesting what else they would like to see happen in the clubs junior section.
