It has been brought to our attention by the E.A that Cound Pool has a non-native weed growing in the margins and all members must take precautions to stop it spreading i.e. Clean nets, unhooking mats, bank sticks, chair mud feet, stink bags etc

http://www.ceh.ac.uk/sci_programmes/documents/AustralianSwampStonecrop.pdf

It would be pretty disastrous if members manage to spread this to one of our shallow waters i.e Ossmere which is also classed as a SSSI.

We are still gathering information with further communications to follow, so in the mean time please use all sensible precautions to stop any further spread.

Prince Albert will be holding a Junior day at Cound fishery on Saturday 13th March 2010, fishing starts at 10am. Fishing will be for Rainbow trout by any method. You will be able to take a rainbow trout but all brown trout are to be returned as they will be out of season.

Karl the even organiser can provide a dozen fly outfits with safety glasses, nets, flies etc but if the students elect to use other methods they will need to bring their own kit. Mums and Dads are welcome but it is only the Juniors who will be allowed to fish. Remember it is always a good idea to bring warm waterproof clothing and wellies as well as a packed lunch.

The day will conclude at 3.30pm.

If you would like to book a place, please email me and i will forward your details over to Karl. Click here to email me

Just to announce that PAAS have taken on the water known as Cound Trout Fishery. We will however operate it largely as a coarse water with any method trout fishing allowed (brown trout to be returned). Its been a trout fishery for 15-20 years but around that time the EA put the coarse fish from a local lake in there as part of a fish rescue. These havent been fished for for 20 years. Known to hold carp tench roach rudd and perch and maybe other species.

Its a former quarry 26 acres spring fed crystal clear and 50ft deep.
